Recently, in a favorite health magazine of mine there was a particularly informative and good article on the dangers of elevated glucose levels. Now these glucose spikes occur after eating a meal high in carbohydrates, but the glucose spike isn't just temporary as it may stay elevated hours after the meal is over. Whats truly of interest to me is that the risk of heart disease increases in these after-meal glucose spikes even if the blood glucose level only increases by 21 mg. There may even by a risk of dying from cardiovascular disease by 26% in a glucose spike after eating. Conventional medicine considers anything below 125 mg a normal glucose level, but in reality this may still be too high and lead to diabetic complications. The damage to tissues can occur even when its below that number so theres a possibility that we could all be pre-diabetic and this may be another factor behind the epidemic of chronic disease. We should not just rely on fasting glucose levels!
So high blood sugar levels are connected to cardiovascular disease instead of the maligned saturated fats? of course, its long been known that diabetes and heart disease are linked, but why exactly is this? If disease in the human body is a manifestation of deeper problems such as malnutrition, toxins, and emotional distress then is heart disease caused by diabetes or are they both caused by the same problem? We know already that sugar and carbohydrate heavy diets tend to leech minerals from the body and include trans fatty acids from vegetable oil (the true heart killers). So really when you think about it's no surprise that both diseases are dietary-related. And as we know from the WAPF traditional societies were free of diabetes and heart disease and they did not consume refined sugary foods or vegetable oil. Once again traditional diets that were consumed for thousands of years are validated. Stay away from sugar and carb heavy diets to avoid both of the modern disease epidemics of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
